Description:

We are seeking an experienced Field Safety Manager to provide safety leadership and technical support on a major data center construction project in Virginia. This individual will work closely with project and field leadership to ensure safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and effective implementation of project-specific safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical construction safety, with experience working in active construction environments and the ability to effectively engage with field personnel, project leadership, subcontractors, and client safety teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safety leadership and technical guidance to project and field operations teams.
  • Support safe work planning and ensure compliance with company, contractual, customer, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review site safety plans, risk assessments, permits, MOPs, and other safety-related documentation.
  • Conduct regular job-site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Lead efforts to identify hazards and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Oversee site safety personnel and coordinate safety activities with project leadership.
  • Conduct new-hire, site-specific, and ongoing safety training and orientations.
  • Coordinate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other safety initiatives.
  • Respond to incidents and safety concerns, including leading root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with project and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, permits, logs, audit documentation, and incident reports.
  • Work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, General Contractors, subcontractors, and client safety teams to address safety issues.
  • Utilize safety management systems and software to track incidents, audits, observations, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in project safety meetings, audits, and client safety reviews.
  • Maintain required safety certifications and support continuous improvement of site safety practices.
  • Travel may be required depending on project requirements.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of recent construction safety experience, preferably within electrical or mission-critical construction.
  • Prior experience as an Electrician is highly preferred.
  • Experience working on large-scale data center or electrical construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30, OSHA 510, and First Aid/CPR certifications required.
  • CHST certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, OSHA requirements, and job-site safety practices.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field employees, supervisors, project leadership, contractors, and clients.
  • Strong ability to identify hazards, investigate incidents, and drive corrective actions.
  • Must maintain required driving qualifications and successfully complete applicable background and motor vehicle checks.
