FindTalent is seeking a highly skilled Senior Substation Estimator to support a leading construction company in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. As a Senior Substation Estimator, you will take charge of preparing and analyzing large, multi-project estimates, ensuring that costs, timelines, and resources are accurately planned to meet customer and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze customer specifications, project outlines, and scopes of work to create estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors across large substation projects.

• Coordinate with internal teams, including Project Management, to ensure estimates align with business goals, customer requirements, and ROI expectations.

• Oversee the preparation of accurate, organized, and comprehensive proposal documents, including Stipulated Price, Design-Build, and Construction/Project Management models.

• Discuss proposal details with customers, addressing options and adjustments to ensure the project’s objectives are met before final approval.

• Provide detailed project proposal information, including cost breakdowns, process details, and subcontractor data, to the Project Management team for execution.

• Develop and manage accurate project budgets from conceptual design through final estimates to ensure alignment with the company’s goals.

• Lead and mentor junior estimators and team members, guiding them through obstacles, changes, and any project-related challenges.

• Track project costs, monitor unit pricing, and manage job tracking to ensure projects are aligned with current or updated proposals.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, field personnel, and customers for future project success and ongoing collaboration.

• Review and refine estimating processes to ensure that best practices are followed and continuously improved across the organization.

Education, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in substation and industrial electrical work.

• 15+ years of experience as an Estimator, with a strong focus on substation and electrical infrastructure projects.

• Proficiency in data/cost analysis, proposal development, and interpreting technical documentation specific to electrical substation work.

• Strong ability to read, create, and edit contracts, proposals, and detailed project documentation.

• Proficient with MS Office and estimating software, including Bluebeam, HCSS Heavy Job, Primavera, and MS Project.

• Solid understanding of Union agreements and experience with the regional industrial network within the electrical contracting sector.

• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly present proposals and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.

• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Proven leadership ability, with experience mentoring teams and maintaining a focus on quality, safety, and project success.
